Does my indoor cat need to be vaccinated?

Although the risk to indoor cats is lower, annual exams and base vaccinations are recommended. Changes in your lifestyle could mean the cat is outdoors or if they were to escape outside they would have some protection from the diseases they may be exposed to.

What is FVRCP and core vaccine for cats?

FVRCP is the core set of vaccinations for cats for the most common diseases that affect them. They are ‘FVR’ – feline viral Rhinotracheitis (upper respiratory disease), C – Calicivirus (respiratory disease) and Panleukopenia (feline distemper).

How often does my adult cat need vaccination?

While annual examinations are recommended, vaccination schedules are best determined by your veterinarian and will depend on your cat’s lifestyle. Some vaccines are given yearly while others are every three years.

Are there any risk associated with vaccines?

Although there are some risks involved with any vaccination, the benefits for your cat can be a much healthier and longer life. Reactions to vaccinations are not common but can include soreness around the injection site and mild lethargy which usually resolves within a day or two.
