I've always loved animals. Even when I was in elementary school, I had written a little story saying I was going to grow up to be a veterinarian. Unfortunately, I wasn't willing to travel to get the education needed back then, so when I heard they offered a veterinary assistant course at the business college, I jumped at the chance to take it. I graduated from the Maritime Business College in 2001.
I started working at the emergency clinic two months into my course. I found it very hard to work there with the sad cases I was seeing every day. My heart was so heavy when I went home every night, so the manager heard that DVH was hiring and gave my name to Hope who was the manager at the time. I had an interview and have been working there since.
I've always been interested in Nutrition, and recently took on inventory which I really enjoy.
What I love most about my job is I love the interacting with clients. I’ve been here for a long time and know quite a few on a first name basis and vice versa. This makes it very easy for them to have that connection when they come in.
My favourite thing about the clinic is my co-workers! Great bunch of people.
My first pet was an Irish setter/flat coated lab named Patches.
