I chose to join the veterinary field because throughout my childhood my parents and I would care for stray unhealthy/injured animals and it felt so fulfilling when the animals health and quality of life improved. Animals, especially those under human care, have given and provided us companionship, protection and so many other beneficial relationships. So I wanted to be apart of the industry that provided health care and welfare to our companions. I graduated with a Biology degree from Dalhousie University and in the future I would like to study veterinary medicine and become a DVM. Being a veterinary assistant here at Dartmouth Veterinary Hospital is the key experience I needed to prepare for me for that journey, when the time comes.
I currently foster Royal Bahamian Potcakes from my home country. The state of animal health and welfare needs major improvement so while I'm here learning from the best and providing the best care for our patients, I want to help the animals there who are in need of better care and environment.
